Lawrence is a traveling merchant selling various goods from a horse-drawn cart. One day, he arrives at a village and meets a beautiful girl with the ears and tail of an animal! Her name is Holo the Wisewolf and she brings bountiful harvests. She wishes to return to her homeland, and Lawrence offers to take her. Now, the once-lonely merchant and the once-lonely wisewolf begin their journey north.

Opening show was a little thin on BGM than I was expecting. This left the parts of the dialogue a little boring. Still the storyline is off to a great start though a little weak.

Horo is the kind of character I love to watch beacuse she lives at the boundary of two worlds -- in this case apparently the supernatural and the romanitic comedy.

Not much really happened in this epsiode, but the girl is cute and pushy and she uses her tail to flirt. I'd watch one more episode to see if the action picks up.

Spice & Wolf II kicks up the romance part of their journey. Still there is some foreboding that this is a doomed relationship. The question whither we'll see Horo in wolf form during this series. There is some hints in the opening in some sort of antaganist.
